or at least I think I am one of few humble and modest people that you’ll meet in a lifetime. I don’t boast, self-praise or crow (a new term I just learned from the American Heritage Dictionary), but by golly today I’m totally bragging!
My husband is the COO of a start-up called Power2Switch.com. The organization is similar to Expedia, by which they have created an online platform that aggregates low rates for consumers, but in the Power2Switch world, they aggregate electricity suppliers. He and his business partner have raised over a million in investment dollars towards the cost of running the business AND they have been featured in a number of Chicago periodicals as well as graced the television scene.
Now here’s where I brag about me…get ready…here it comes…
…I was smart enough to pick a handsome, smart, intelligent, well spoken, kind, gentle, loving, ambitious, God-fearing and thoughtful man to be my husband. Go Me!
[Sigh]…okay…so that was really hard for me to say. Well, not the handsome, smart, intelligent, well spoken, kind, gentle, loving, ambitious, God-fearing thoughtful man part, but the “I was smart enough to pick” part. I’m just so proud of this man in my life and while I’d like to think that maybe I’ve got some incredible husband selecting skills
, the truth is that I’m just thankful for God’s blessings and anointing. I guess the Man Upstairs knew that it would take a certain kind of man to make me barefoot and pregnant, well sort of. I actually have on slippers and by pregnant I mean the mother of a 10 month old.
So shout out to Mr. Philip Lawrence Nevels; “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
(spoken in my most southern Aibileen voice from the movie “The Help”).
Who are you most proud of these days?
